GRAND OPENING Poetry Pollinators On the Santa Fe River Thursday, June 30 4:00 - 5:30 pm Free! Please join Poetry Pollinators and our community partners in celebrating Pollinator Day with the grand opening of our new bee nesting habitat sculpture and poetry display, comissioned from artist Peter Joseph and located at the intersection of E. Alameda and Camino Escondido, on the south side of the Santa Fe River. 4:00 - 5:30 Thursday, June 30th - Introduction, by project directors Julie Chase-Daniel and Elizabeth Jacobson. - SF Watershed Association will open with a talk about their water catchment and infiltration basins. - Peter Joseph will discuss the making of and care for this pollinator habitat, known as a bee hotel. - The SF library will host a pollinator storytime for children of all ages with a crafts table set up for an Eco-art activity. Please bring a portable chair if you have one. We will provide some seating. Refreshments will be served! Directions: The gathering will take place along the south side of the river, adjacent to the dirt road (Alameda) by the corner of Camino Escondido. Map below. Parking is available by the site on the dirt road and also along the paved part of Alameda. There is a foot bridge which can take you across the river. This is an all ages event and everyone is welcome! Founded in 2020 by Julie Chase-Daniel and Elizabeth Jacobson, Poetry Pollinators is dedicated to engaging poetry and art to support local ecosystems through conservation of pollinator species and their habitats. This program is made possible through support from the Santa Fe Watershed Association, City of Santa Fe Parks Department and River Commission, and through private donations, including ShadowCatcher Entertainment, funds managed by the Santa Fe Community Foundation, and grants from the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry and from New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
